Frequently asked car tyre questions
How much is a new car tyre?

The cost of a new car tyres will vary. It will come down to the brand, the size you require, and the type of tyre you need.

You can expect to pay between £50 and £150 per tyre on average. Although tyres can cost as much as £900+ depending on what you need.

Is it worth getting 4 new car tyres?

Yes, replacing all four tyres at once can be beneficial, although not always necessary.

When you replace all 4 tyres at the same time, your new tyres should deliver a balanced handling and performance across all axles.

However, if only two of your tyres are worn, you can replace just those. When adding 2 new tyres, it is recommended to put the new tyres on the rear axle. As this induces understeer at the limit - which most people are better at dealing with.

Can I change only two tyres?

Yes, you can change only two tyres. Especially if the others are still in good condition.

When fitting just 2 tyres to your car, it's recommended to install the new tyres on the rear axle.

How long should tyres last?

The lifespan of tyres depends on various factors. Such as your driving habits, the condition of the roads and the quality of the tyres.

On average, tyres can last between 20,000 - 30,000 miles. Around 2 to 4 years.

However, make sure that you regularly check the condition of your tyres. Replace them sooner if they begin to show signs of uneven wear or have been damaged

How do I know if my tyres need replacing?

You should replace your tyres if the tread depth is below the legal limit of 1.6mm.

Other signs that your tyres need replacing include cracks or bulges. If you spot uneven wear patterns, this may also be a sign that you need a replacement. This could affect your car’s handling
