Continental Tyres

Continental are owned by tyre company Continental AG. Continental are shares owned by both public shareholders and IHO Group. IHO Group, who are a subsidiary of Shaeffler Group, own 46% of the tyre manufacturing company. The remaining 54% ownership belongs to public shareholders, which is also known as a public float. This is where shares of a company can be publicily traded and used as a means of revenue.

Continental have factories and areas of distribution in 57 different countries. The tyre manufacturing company is headquarted in Hanover, Germany. Continental also have factories in countries such as the United States, India, Portugal, Brazil, and Mexico.

The difference in spelling between tyres/tires depends on what use of the English language a nation uses. If Continental are selling their products in the United States, the product will be described as 'Continental tires'. In the United Kingdom, Continental and the public will identify their company's products as 'tyres'.

The mileage of Continental's tyres can vary. It will depend on driving style, the condition of the roads, the type of vehicle they are fitted to, and how well the tyres are maintained. Continental indicate that a particular model is a Run Flat tyre by using the letters SSR at the end of the product model description on the sidewall of the tyre. To check whether the tyres you currently have on your vehicle are Run Flat tyres, check for the letters SSR on the tyre's sidewall.

The option to repair a run flat tyre is technically possible - if the puncture is not on the sidewall and less than 6mm in diameter. Howeve, due to safety reasons Continental do not recommend the repairing of a tyre.
