Goodyear launches the new EfficientGrip Performance 2

This month, Goodyear launched the EfficientGrip Performance 2 - the successor to the award-winning, and most reviewed tyre on Blackcircles.com, the EfficientGrip Performance. 

With the launch of this new range of premium tyres, Goodyear is marketing the EfficientGrip Performance 2 at a wide pool of potential customers – focusing primary on motorists with cars that have a 15 – 18 inch rim size.

High Mileage Tyre 

The EfficientGrip Performance 2 has been developed to deliver high mileage, with the tyre providing around 50% higher mileage when compared with its predecessor. 

When the tyre was Tested by TÜV SÜD Product Service GmbH in November 2019, the EfficientGrip Performance 2 – in size 205/55 R16 91 V and fitted to a  VW Golf Mk7 – was found to achieve 20% more mileage than the next best-tested competitor. 

In the same independent tests, the Goodyear tyre achieved the shortest braking distances on both dry and wet roads – when compared with the Michelin Primacy 4, Continental PremiumContact 6, Bridgestone Turanza T005 and Pirelli Cinturato P7 Blue.

Severalfeatures have been developed in the making of the EfficientGrip Performance 2 – allowing the tyre to achieve this impressive high mileage capability.

These include: 

• High tread elasticity and flexibility. Thanks to the makeup of the tread compound, the tyre’s supple performance ensures less wear when in contact with rough roads. 
• Increased and longer gripping edges. The decision to include a great number of sipes, along with optimised compound stiffness, means the tyre can quickly and effectively remove surface water from it’s path – for far shorter braking distances. 
• Large central ribs. By constructing the tyres with large ribs in the centre of the tread pattern, the tyre can deliver improved stability and reliable performances when called upon in an emergency situation.
