The Michelin CrossClimate 2 premium tyres launch in the UK today.
With the introduction of the CrossClimate 2, Michelin now has 5 models within the multi awarded range CrossClimate range – including the:
With the CrossClimate 2, Michelin are looking to build further upon their reputation for delivering car tyres that can provide motorists with excellent mileage.
As well as maintaining high levels of performance from the first to the last mile (down to the legal 1.6mm tread depth).
Created to build upon the success of the CrossClimate+, the Michelin CrossClimate 2 has been developed to include some of the latest treadwear technologies to deliver a high all-season performance.
The tyre’s V-Shape tread pattern – reminiscent of the CrossClimate+ - allows for quick and effective water drainage when driving. This removal of water from the tyre significantly reduces the risk of aquaplaning on surface water when driving.
The tread compound of the CrossClimate 2 features a ‘thermal adaptive compound’. This new generation of compound contains a high density of silica and carbon black. This allows the tyre to adapt to the ever-changing road temperatures – helping to deliver good grip in dry, wet or snowy conditions.
As well as all weather performance, Michelin have designed the CrossClimate 2 to ensure good mileage and longevity.
The inclusion of ‘Cool Running Sidewalls’ in the tyre allows for energy to be absorbed by the tyre when in use – particularly braking and in corners. This aids in the reduction of fuel consumption – or the extension of batter range for electric vehicles.
Furthermore, the ‘MaxTouch Construction’ of the tread means the tyre evenly distributes the forces of acceleration and braking evenly. By doing so, this helps to extend a longer tread life, as the tyre will wear evenly throughout its lifespan.
At the time of the Michelin CrossClimate 2 launch, the following vehicles are set to have the tyres fitted as original equipment in 2021:
In addition to this, the tyre will be available from September in 105 size variations, with the rim size of this ranging from 15” to 20” – covering a wide selection of the automotive industry’s most popular tyre sizes.
