New Tyre Launched: Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV

Last month, March 2019, Michelin launched the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV – an addition to the increasingly popular and award-winning Pilot Sport 4 premium tyres range.

With this latest model, Michelin seems to have recognised the, so far, unabated growth of the SUV and 4x4 segment.

Over the past 4-5 years, a plethora of high performance and sporty SUVs have rolled out the factories of the motoring world’s prestigious brands – including the Porsche Macan and BMW X5M.

The Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV is a tyre that looks set to hit the increasing demand amongst 4x4 and SUV owners - looking for an ultra-high performance tyre, built upon a strong foundation of heritage, experience and performance.

Michelin’s Pilot Sport 4 and Pilot Sport 4 S have both held a strong and favourable position in the ultra-high performance car segment for a number of years.

By taking their successes from this area and building upon it, Michelin has revised the tyre in order to deliver an equally high performance - but for vehicles which have the unique centre of gravity and generally heavier mass that is particular to this new generation of sporty SUV and 4x4s.

The Tyre Itself

In keeping with the other tyres in the range, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV features an almost deceptively minimalist looking asymmetric tread pattern.

The outer tread of which has been optimised to deliver exceptional dry grip and high traction cornering.

Whereas the inner middle section of the tyre, with its deep linear grooves, help to provide motorists with impeccable grip on wet surfaces.

Michelin tyres come with a reputation for longevity, and the Pilot Sport 4 SUV is no exception.

Due, in no small part, to the tyre’s rigid blocks on the tread pattern and high-density double casing – for increased tyre robustness.

The tyre has also been designed with a hybrid belt made of aramid and nylon for an optimised driving precision.
