This April 8th, mark your calendars because the total solar eclipse is set to dazzle the skies, fully visible from the US but fear not - we've got some prime viewing spots right here in the UK.
For the uninitiated, a total solar eclipse happens when the Moon swoops between the Sun and Earth, casting its shadow across the planet and plunging us into temporary twilight.
Only a partial eclipse will be visible from the UK. The first part of the eclipse is visible from here because the sun will set before the eclipse reaches its maximum phase.
So, where can you catch a look?
The eclipse will start at 7:53PM. A prime spot to view this would be Crathes Castle or Braemar (head to the caravan park for the perfect spot).
The eclipse will start at 7:55PM.- The best spot to view nearest to Belfast is Divis Mountain, but you’ll have to hike up to see it so wrap up warm!
The eclipse will start at 7:54PM. A prime spot to view this would be Carlton Hill or the Blackford Hill, near the Royal Observatory.
The eclipse will start at 7:56PM St. Davids is known for it’s amazing sky visibility, and is classed as the top UK city for stargazing. You can see the eclipse from almost anywhere.
The eclipse will start at 7:54PM. The best place to view this is Talkin Tarn Country Park. You can access the park by car. The park has a 65 acre lake making it an ideal spot for the best photos!
The eclipse will start at 7:54PM. Head to Whitelee wind farm for a prime viewing spot.
The eclipse will start at 7:55PM. Head to Benone Beach with a hot flask and enjoy the views from here!
The eclipse will start at 7:57PM. Bodmin Moor is the perfect place to view. Minions, Cardinham Woods, Crowdy Reservoir and Colliford Lake are some specific places in the National Park.
