One-of-one G-Falcon is €2 million hand-engraved ultimate G63
A project four years in the making, Carlex’s artisanal G-Wagen features diamond dust paint and a majestic, hand-etched roof relief. Is this the coolest custom job ever?
When it comes to ultra-modified G-Wagens, we thought we had seen it all… six-wheelers, wide-bodies, lift kits, 900-bhp engines: short of an amphibious G-submarine, what else was left on the table?
Rather a lot, if you ask Polish design firm, Carlex. Specialising in refining and enhancing luxury cars and private jets, the family-run enterprise is responsible for some truly bespoke automotive artworks. And now it’s the G-Wagen’s turn to be lavished not with hours, but years of exquisite craftmanship.
A car’s roof is rarely the star of the show — or even noteworthy, for that matter — but then the G-Falcon doesn’t like to play by the rules. Initially hand sketched by the firm’s in-house graphic designer, Konrad Łabędź, the intricate Falcon motif was hand engraved with subtle hints of gold woven throughout. According to Carlex, the Falcon is said to represent “An icon of inner strength, inspiration and liberation – an invitation to explore the mysteries of the world and one’s own soul.”

Then there’s the exterior colour. You’ve heard of metallic paint, but how about diamond dust? Mixed using the brand’s own proprietary technique, the final shimmering effect is the result of over 1kg of crushed gemstones, natural amber colouring, and hand brushing.
It’s just as spectacular inside. As masters of leather patination, Carlex know how to take the commonly used material and elevate it to levels we’ve never seen inside a car before. The patination practice mirrors that seen in world of the finest haberdashery and footwear. It involves adding natural waxes to the leather to age, soften, and permeate the structure with a subtle fragrance “take a deep breath and you will smell tradition and sophistication.” Hand stitching then adds the finishing touch.
Unlike other Mercedes tuners and modifiers, Carlex opted not to tinker with the standard G63’s mechanicals. Still, at 577-bhp and under four seconds to 60 mph, the big G was hardly crying out for more performance. As for the wheels, they’re colossal 24-inch forged items finished in the same diamond dust paint as the body and wrapped in road-biased Vredestein rubber. While some knobbly off-road tyres might have looked a little more aggressive, we can only imagine the sort of carnage a rogue bramble bush or hidden tree stump could inflict on such a masterpiece.
Understandably, such bespoke work doesn’t come cheap. The four years of tireless toil Carlex have invested in the G-Falcon, as well as the acres of exceptionally high-quality materials used, means €2 million (about £1.69 million) is the going rate. That price does at least guarantee total exclusivity, though — this is the one and only G-Falcon in existence. The only question is, who’s going to be the lucky owner?
Is this the coolest custom G-Wagon you’ve ever seen, or is there another modified mega-truck that takes the biscuit?
