After summer 2024’s record-breaking wetness levels, we’re in need of some good news. Here to shelter you from the storm as we head into shorter days and statistically worse weather: Uniroyal’s RainSport 5 tyre has got drivers covered.
The UK didn’t quite see the rumoured 50 days of rain, but parts of Scotland were drenched by the wettest conditions since records began, and at best, weather was changeable across the board.
With autumn looking set to carry on this trend, Uniroyal reckon they have the tyres for the job. Whether tacking wet or drying roads; RainSport 5 tyres boast the ‘best-in-class wet performance’ to keep you safe on even the rainiest days.

When driving on wet roads, it’s easy to just think of increased stopping distance; brake a little earlier and you’re sorted. But that’s just scratching the surface. This same reduced friction between tyres and road also brings reduced control, both in a straight line and when cornering. And then — in extreme cases — water can build up faster than your tyres can displace it, gathering a thin layer between the rubber and the road surface. This results in aquaplaning: a total loss of contact which completely removes your ability to brake or steer, leaving you sliding out of control.
So how does the RainSport 5 counteract these issues, and achieve its wet-weather superiority?
First up, Shark Skin Technology. Inspired by the way these aquatic beasts glide through water, Uniroyal has harnessed this in its tread design, to help wick water off tyres.
If this majestic creature features on your tyre, you can rely on the Shark Skin Technology within the tread patterns to help you carve through water on the road with reduced liquid turbulence, quickly expelling water to maintain optimal contact with the tarmac.
As water is quickly dispersed by the wide in-block-grooves and Aqua-Twist Sipes, grip is boosted on slippery roads, and the risk of aquaplaning is reduced — keeping you and your passengers safe.
On top of ticking these wet weather boxes, the RainSport 5 also thrives in the dry — should we ever see such conditions as the nights draw in... A stiff base, reinforced outside shoulder, and wide centre ribs give the tyre enhanced stability and responsiveness through corners, providing ‘maximum driving pleasure, come rain or shine’.
An additional benefit of the reinforced shoulders is even wear across the tyre’s road-facing surface. This is then backed up by the optimised tread design, making sure that pressure is distributed evenly across the tyre, and lower abrasion is guaranteed.
The result? Improved milage figures — 15% better than that of the RainSport 3 to be exact — which will have you reaching into your purse or wallet less often. Oh, and it has the added bonus of improving the noise performance at the same time, further adding to your driving pleasure.
So, with best-in-class wet performance, boosted mileage, and enhanced control out on the road, adding up to a safe and pleasurable driving experience — would you choose the RainSport 5 as your next tyre?
