How long does an MOT test take?

On average you will find that an MOT test will take around 45 and 60 minutes to complete.

If your car does not pass the test and you decide to opt for repairs by the MOT centre on the day (if this is an option) then your time at the garage may be much longer.

Although the test may can take up to an hour to complete, you will often find that the MOT centre requires you drop off your vehicle at a set time and they will then let you know when it is ready for collection.

Other jobs or issues may pop throughout the day which can push the test back slightly.

As such, to make sure you are not caught off guard, it is advisable to prepare to not use your vehicle for the day.
