What are homologated tyres?

Homologated tyres have been tested and approved by a vehicle manufacturer to be compatible with a specific model within their range.

You may have seen them under the term original equipment tyres, or OE tyres in the past. All of these mean the same thing.

When designing a homologated tyre, the vehicle manufacturer and tyre manufacturer work together to ensure the tyre is optimised for a specific model. This can take the form of many rounds of product testing until they get the results they want.

Are homologated tyres worth it?

Yes, they are worth it - as these tyres have been specifically designed and tested to deliver an optimal performance for a specific vehicle.

When producing OE tyres, they are engineered in such as way that they provide better performance, handling and safety for the model of vehicle they were designed for.
