Maintaining the tyres on your Ford Puma to meet the recommended manufacturer’s guidelines is an important aspect of vehicle maintenance and safety.

By maintaining the correct tyre pressure, you can help to ensure the safety aspects of your car are working correctly – such as the handling, braking, and durability.
It may be that you need to add air to the tyre, or it might be that you need to take some air out.
How to inflate tyres
The best way to add air to your tyres to increase the pressure is with a tyre pump or an air compressor.
First you will need to remove the valve cap and then insert the tyre pump into the hose into the valve stem.
You can then use a gauge to check the current pressure of the tyre. Once you know how much you need to add, you can inflate the tyre to the recommended tyre pressure.
Once you have done this recheck the tyre pressure to ensure it is at the recommended level.
How to reduce tyre pressure
At the other end of the scale, if you find that your tyres are overinflated, air will need to be released from the tyre.
You do this by removing the valve cap from the tyre. Then you can press the valve stem. You will hear a hissing noise as air is released.
Keep an eye on the tyre pressure gauge to see what the tyre pressure is dropping to.
Most gauges come with a button that you can press when it is attached to the valve.
Do this in short bursts so you do not remove too much air.
