The Suzuki S-Cross has paired its latest hybrid with Continental tyres, aiming to carve a space for itself among the competitive compact SUV segment with established rivals like the Nissan Qashqai and Kia Sportage.
The S-Cross hybrid promises a blend of practicality, efficiency, and modern design. Join us as we take a closer look at its powertrain, features, and interior, to see how it measures up.
Suzuki hasn't strayed too far from the S-Cross' established design language. The new model retains its raised ride height and muscular wheel arches, while incorporating a larger, more prominent grille and sleeker LED headlights. While some may find the overall look evolutionary rather than revolutionary, the S-Cross maintains a sense of understated style, appealing to those seeking practicality without sacrificing aesthetics.

Powering the S-Cross is a choice of efficient powertrains. The mainstay is a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology. Plus, a 1.5-litre full hybrid, in Motion and Ultra grades, the later which includes ALLGRIP 4WD. This setup delivers a balance of performance and fuel efficiency, suitable for both city driving and motorway cruising. And, while not a performance SUV by any stretch, the S-Cross prioritises smooth power delivery and respectable fuel economy.
To help with this, Suzuki has opted for Continental EcoContact 6 tyres in size 215/55 R17 94V for the S-Cross. The EcoContact 6's special rubber compound and tread design reduces energy consumption, which aligns perfectly with the S-Cross' focus on fuel efficiency. Additionally, the tyres promise a quiet and comfortable ride, important considerations for a family-oriented vehicle with sleeping toddlers in the back seat.
The interior of the new S-Cross receives a welcome update. While not as premium-feeling as some competitors, the cabin is functional and comfortable, with logical controls and durable materials. All buyers can expect the usual array of standard equipment in the cabin including Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control as well as dual zone auto air conditioning, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone link. A new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system takes centre stage on the Ultra grade, offering smartphone integration and access to various vehicle functions.
Does the new Suzuki S-Cross, equipped with efficiency-focused tyres, strike the right balance between practicality, affordability, and driving experience for you?
