The Lexus NX, a strong contender in the luxury mid-size SUV market, receives a welcome refresh for 2024. This head-turner goes wheel-to-wheel with rivals like the Audi Q5 and BMW X3.
Lexus itself admits ‘the updates are not radical’, but those in search of luxury fine-tuning of the hybrid and plug-in hybrid SUVs might perk their ears.

Starting with the visual: the most noticeable change is the introduction of two new colour options: Sonic Copper exterior paint and Ammonite Sand leather upholstery. While not quite a Dulux palette drop, it adds to the choice of 12 colour options.
Under the hood, the powertrain options remain unchanged, featuring the efficient self-charging NX 350h and the plug-in hybrid NX 450h+. Both models promise a refined driving experience, with the 450h+ offering the added benefit of an electric-only range suitable for daily commutes.
Notably, a panoramic roof, previously unavailable, is now an option on select trims, for an even airer cabin, adding to the sense of spaciousness. While not a complete design overhaul, these additions offer a touch of freshness and sophistication.
Lexus continues to deliver a luxurious experience inside. The cabin is well-appointed with high-quality materials and driver-centric technology. The renamed NX 350h entry-level grade, Urban, introduces wireless smartphone integration for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, hitting a baseline requirement for any luxury SUV in 2024.
It’s packed with some hard-hitting tech in there too, with Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and the E-latch door release system with Safe Exit Assist. Plus, a choice of 64 different shades for the interior LED lighting system to help tailor the door handles illuminated with puddle light. Higher trim levels benefit from features like heated and ventilated front seats, a head-up display, and a premium Mark Levinson sound system.
The Premium Plus specification, available on both models, offers 20-inch alloy wheels. Lexus has previously paired the NX with Yokohama’s BluEarth XT, which would give a comfortable ride to complement its character.
Lexus claims it’s ‘always keen to raise the bar’ and the 2024 NX does boast subtle yet impactful enhancements: but are they enough to get you to convert? Let us know what you think.
