Audi has been one of the quickest mainstream car makers to move its range of cars towards EVs. Among the latest additions are the Q4 e-tron and its coupe-shaped Q4 Sportback e-tron sister model.
Both are luxurious compact SUVs with the added attraction of all-electric running, and a driving range of up to 328 miles depending on which version you choose. This makes them ideal for all sorts of everyday driving tasks, and that means they need a tyre that will keep up with the huge variety of roads and mileages they will be expected to cope with.

Audi chooses to fit the two electric Q4 models with Hankook tyres.
The Ventus S1 Evo 3 EV is specifically designed for EVs to maximise driving range and offer the best in comfort and handling. It’s meant a lot of work for Hankook to keep up with the pace of development at Audi, but the Ventus tyre does just that.
In wet or dry conditions, it keeps a firm hold on the road as it’s been honed to offer lots of grip while also dealing with the instant power that’s on offer from the Q4 which can be ordered with one or two electric motors. Choose the more powerful Q4 models with Quattro four-wheel drive and twin motors, and they provide 299hp and 0-62mph in 6.2 seconds, so they are every bit as quick as most hot hatches.
Unlike a racy hot hatch, the Q4 also has to be a calm, soothing family car.
The classy cabin delivers this with Audi’s usual blend of high quality finish and easy-to-use technology, which you will enjoy in perfect hush. This is a feature of EVs with their near-noiseless motors, but it also means the tyres have to be equally quiet to avoid disturbing the peace.
Again, this is where Hankook has risen to the challenge and made its Ventus tyre among the most quiet-running you can find. It also helps improve the Q4 e-tron’s driving range with reduced resistance as it passes over the road’s surface without compromising on grip when you need it most.
The tyre also helps save weight and energy with its SEALGUARD technology that fixes punctures before you even know it’s happened. A sealant inside the tyre plugs any holes up to 5mm, which is about the width of two pound coins stacked on top of each other. It saves you having to pull over and means the car doesn’t need to have a spare wheel, so it reduces weight and extends the battery’s driving range.
In the fast-changing world of EVs, Audi is one of the leaders and the Hankook Ventus S1 Evo 3 EV is perfectly suited to keeping pace.
