From spooky names to scary styling, this frightening bunch make the perfect addition to any Halloween costume.
The automotive world is littered with references (some, more intentional than others) to nightmarish creatures and things that go bump in the night. So, without further ado, here’s our 5 favourites:
5. Lamborghini Diablo
Coming from an era before Lamborghini fully adopted four-wheel-drive, some Diablos even did without anti-lock brakes, airbags, or power steering. This resulted in the supercar earning something of a dangerous reputation. Regardless of whether that was justified, this Lambo’s name (meaning Devil in Italian) is enough to earn its place on this list.
4. Rolls-Royce Ghost Black Badge
According to Rolls-Royce, the Ghost Black Badge Edition represents ‘The dark side of post opulence.’ How foreboding. Combine this with stealthy styling and an already ghoulish name, and you have one seriously spooky Roller. Plus, if that’s not enough, the £315,000 price tag would make anyone jump.

3. Pontiac Firebird (Trans Am)
Pontiac’s villainous Firebird had evil in its DNA, as the concept which preceded it bore an even more terrifying title: Banshee.
Positioned to go toe-to-toe with Ford’s Mustang and Chevrolet’s Camaro, this V8 muscle car was surely the scariest of the trio. What’s more, in later generations it even morphed into TV icon, KITT from Knight Rider. Need we say more?
2. Chrysler PT Cruiser
Although it probably wasn’t Chrysler's intention to frighten, the notorious PT Cruiser makes it onto this list for two reasons. One: its styling smacks of a carved pumpkin left out after Halloween, and two: the rear end resembles a hearse — fitting, for anyone who wants to replicate The Addams Family on a budget.
1. Dodge Challenger Demon 170
As mythical creatures go, a demon probably epitomizes Halloween the best. Name aside though, as the world’s fastest accelerating production car (and the only one which can pop a wheelie straight out of the box) the Demon 170 exudes danger and aggression in equal measure.
With paint options like White Knuckle, Pitch Black, and Destroyer Grey, Dodge doesn’t beat about the bush with the ultimate Challenger's intentions. And rightly so, with 1025 bhp and an 8.9 second quarter mile time, the Demon will have all but the most hardened fighter pilots welded to the seat with fear.
Do you agree with our scariest picks, or did we miss your favourite haunted hot-rod?
