The Michelin Primacy 5 tyre has been developed to deliver a safe and reliable performance. With the use of Michelin's next-generation EverGrip Technology and MaxTouch technology, the Primacy 5 delivers excellent wet braking and excellent longevity.
The Primacy 5 tyres are available in 16 inch, 17 inch, 18 inch, and 19 inch rim tyre sizes.
In external tests that were run by the Dekra Test Centre on a Tesla Model 3 with the tyre size 235/45 R18, the Primacy 5 delivered 18% more mileage compared to its predecessor, the Primacy 4+.
Michelin has used their MaxTouch technology in the new Primacy 5 tyre to increase the contact between the tyre and the road. This helps to evenly spread the forces encountered when driving, such as acceleration, braking, and cornering.
A new patented tread compound works to maximise the tyre's longevity.
The Michelin Primacy 5 features a rubber compound specially developed to reduce rolling resistance.
This works to help extend the battery range of an EV, as less energy is required when moving.
The tyre's new tread pattern reduces noise levels, an important comfort factor for EV owners.
The Michelin Primacy 5 delivers 4% shorter wet braking distances when worn compared to its predecessor.
The tyre's tread pattern has been designed to remove water from the path of the tyre quickly. This provides excellent wet braking performance and reduces the risk of aquaplaning.
What are summer tyres?
Summer tyres are specifically designed for warm weather conditions, particularly during the summer season. This type of tyre performs best when in seasons with warmer temperatures - above 7°C.
How does a summer tyre perform better in summer?
The technologies and tread patterns used in a summer tyre mean the tyres have high-quality features that are of benefit to driving in warm conditions. They typically use a softer rubber compound – designed for good grip and traction when driving on dry and wet roads.
Can you use summer tyres in winter?
Whilst summer tyres still offer adequate performances in wet and cooler conditions, it is recommended that you change. The tread design and technologies that are featured in summer tyres can harden in colder temperatures, resulting in reduced flexibility and decreased traction on snow and ice.
