Can you fit run flat tyres to any car?

Run flat tyres are designed primarily for vehicles with a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), which alerts the driver when pressure is lost.

While they can be physically fitted to most standard rims, using them on a car without TPMS is not recommended, as drivers may not realise a puncture has occurred.

Additionally, some vehicles are specifically engineered for run flats, and switching may affect ride quality and handling.

If your car was not originally designed for run flat tyres, the stiffer sidewalls may result in a harsher ride and different road feedback. It's also worth checking with your vehicle manufacturer or a tyre specialist to ensure that fitting run flats won't impact your car’s safety or performance.
