How long does a car service take?

The time it takes for a car service depends on the type of service being carried out:

  • Interim service – This is a basic service that checks essential components, such as oil, filters, brakes, and tyres. It typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours.
  • Full service – A more detailed inspection that covers fluid top-ups, safety checks, and additional part replacements. A full service usually takes 2.5 to 3.5 hours.
  • Major service – This includes all the checks of a full service, plus additional replacements such as spark plugs or brake fluid changes. It can take up to 4 hours or longer.

If your car requires additional repairs, such as brake pad replacements or diagnostics for an issue, this may extend the service time.

It’s always best to check with the garage for an estimated timeframe based on your vehicle’s condition.
