First released in 1966 the Toyota Corolla has seen 12 generations sold across the globe, by 1974 the Corolla was the best selling car in the world and had sold over 40 million units by July 2013.

2006 seen the Corolla transition into the Auris in the UK, though it has kept its original name elsewhere. The Auris is available only as a 5-door hatchback and with the option of either a 1.2L petrol engine producing 115bhp or a 1.8L petrol hybrid engine producing 136bhp. In North America, where the vehicle is still known as the Corolla, the Corolla is available as a 4-door sedan with a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine and no hybrid option.
